Tamar students have just begun a new unit in Writing Workshop on biographies. They are writing biographies about one another. Hadass is writing about Bryce, Bryce is writing about Sam, Sam is writing about Avia, Avia is writing about Eliana S, Eliana S is writing about Elliana C, Elliana C is writing about Jonathan, Jonathan is writing about Meg, and Meg is writing about Hadass.
On Monday we went over interview techniques. We brainstormed together and then each student came up with a list of interview questions for his/her interviewees.
On Wednesday we started interviewing! I told students that real journalists take notes on what their interviewees are saying as they interview, but that some of them also record the interview as a safety net. Since it is Tamar's first time doing this, the students do not have to worry about taking notes at all. Instead, they each just need to focus on asking the right questions and follow-up questions. We are recording the interviews on ipads so that students can go back and watch the interviews and take notes on them at that time. Here are a few pictures from our first round of interviews.

The students are SO EXCITED about this project. It's great to see their enthusiasm. Ask your Tamar student how the interview process is going.
